Cutting-Edge Art in Baroque Riding Hall

An exciting contrast: the Kunsthalle Wien, located at the heart of the “Museumsquartier” – a quarter of modern and contemporary art museums – combines Johann Fischer von Erlach’s architecture with provocative present-day art. Its multifaceted exhibits focus on photography, video, film, installations, and the new media. Six large-scale exhibitions a year – staged in two halls – ensure a continuous program.

“Made my trip to Vienna a success”
Since 1992, the Kunsthalle Wien’s exhibitions have had more than two million visitors. This makes the Kunsthalle one of the most frequented exhibition halls for contemporary art in Europe. Responses to the shows from the visitors’ book: “Very cool and very disturbing”, “Made my trip to Vienna a success.”
